The model window is where you control the dimensions of your profile, the spacing of geophones, the position of the shot and the seismic velocities and thicknesses of layers in the model.
The topmost part of the window shows the values of the number of geophones, the geophone spacing, and the shot position. The program assumes the shots are aligned in the line of geophones but outside the first and last geophones by a distance equal to the shot position. The total length of the geophone spread is (number of geophones - 1) *(geophone spacing), and the total distance from shot to shot is (number of geophones - 1) *(geophone spacing)+2*(shot position).
The list box allows editing the thickness and velocity of all layers. For changes to the model to be displayed on the Plot Window and Data Window , you have to click on the Update Times and Plots button.
Layers can be added or removed using the Add Layer or Delete Layer buttons.
You can decide which seismic waves you want to see displayed (and times calculated for) by checking or unchecking the appropriate checkboxes at the bottom of the window. Changes are only made to other windows when the Update Times and Plots button is pressed.
If the Fit Window is open and lines have been fit to data, then clicking on the Model from Plot button will generate a new model and update the model times shown both in this window and in the Plot Window. In some cases the lines do not represent a physical model and an alert box will note the discrepancy, as will the message box in the upper right of this window (see below).
The model can be saved to a file (Save Model menu item from the File menu) or copied to the clipboard. You can open models and data from both Refract and Reflect through the Open... menu item in the File menu.
